2FA Addin fails to install on Kaseya 6.3 - Cannot find Registry Path (Legacy)

Issue

When running the 2FA Addin installer on Server 2008 the setup fails almost immediately with the following error message:

Setup was unable to read the Kaseya base install folder from the registry.

Setup cannot continue

Cause

Windows Server 2008 can be a 32-bit or 64-bit OS, and IIS can also be running in 32-bit or 64-bit mode. This can cause the installer to detect the incorrect registry path for Kaseya files.

Resolution

Check the file version of your installer (Right-click > Properties > Details > File Version). It should be at least v3.6.0.4.

On the Kaseya server, open up "regedit" and look for the registry key "vsaPres" with value "c:\Kaseya\vsaPres" at these paths:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\KServer.Exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\KServer.exe

If it does not exist, create the necessary path and inside "KServer.Exe" create a new String Value called "vsaPres"

Create these registry key paths if they do not already exist:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kaseya\Kaseya Server\6.3.0.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Kaseya\Kaseya Server\6.3.0.0

Affects: AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Addin for Kaseya on Windows Server 2008

Affects
